It is the lower/basement level of the owner's full time home but the unit is completely private with it's own dedicated entrance from the enclosed foyer at the rear of the house. Sleeping arrangements: • Bedroom w/ queen bed, dresser, and closet • Living room twin daybed • Bed & bath linens provided • NO KITCHEN • Free street parking (unzoned/unrestricted and abundant) • Shared backyard with pergola and outdoor seating • Small dining area with mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and limited tableware • 40" TV w/ Roku for guests to log in to their own streaming accounts in living room. • Three piece bathroom with standing shower (no bath tub) • Basic Wifi throughout - Speed upgrade packages available, inquire with host. • Keyless entry, no app required • Nest doorbell camera at the front of the house and ADT professionally monitored exterior security cameras • SMOKE-FREE house • Please notify us of any indoor allergies in your booking message • The Capital View Basement Guest Suite and SaltSugarFire Hospitality are taking steps to reduce hospitality waste and be mindful of our environmental impact! • Municipal single-stream recycling • Zero-waste single-use products, including Who Gives A Crap toilet paper • Cotton kitchen towels in place of disposable paper towels (guests are welcomed to purchase their own but we do not provide them) • Eco cleaning supplies and toiletries including natural bath soaps CUSTOM SERVICES AVAILABLE • We've partnered with several local businesses and professionals to offer an ever-expanding menu of extra services** including personalized cooking classes, kitchen provisioning, delivered meal kits, private dining experiences, concierge services, beverage and mixology experiences, in-home massage, mobile auto repair, local excursion planning, and more • let us know in your booking message how we can make your stay exceptional (**subject to scheduling and product availability) CHECKOUT • Deep cleaning is not required but we ask some simple checkout tasks of guests: wash any dirty dishes (see dishwashing station), pile used towels in the bathroom, collect your trash into bins, and make sure to turn off lights and appliances and lock the doors. ACCESS Guests will have access to the basement, via an entrance and the rear of the house, and back yard One closet and a couple of utility rooms will remain locked for owner storage. THINGS TO NOTE NO PARTIES, EVENTS, or "GATHERINGS", or unauthorized visitors are allowed on the premises. If you are visiting to celebrate a birthday or special occasion, let us know in your intro message, even if you do not plan to host it at the house. • This is the basement level of the owner's full time residence. Laundry facilities are included. For longer stays, the owner will need to coordinate access to the laundry room. • The basement does NOT have dedicated HVAC or in unit control of the thermostat. If you are sensitive to cold and prefer a warmer space, we may not be a good fit for you. • Locked doors are not for guest use. • The back yard is fully fenced but has small gaps. • The owner shares her home with her sweet dog so we may not be a suitable place for guests with severe pet allergies. The owner is severely allergic to cats so they are not permitted under any circumstances (ESAs or assistant/service). The basement is NOT pet friendly. • Guests must notify us in advance if a service animal or ESA will accompany them so that we can identify challenges and concerns. • Some duvets and pillows are down-filled and we use fragranced cleaners. Fragrance sensitivities can be accommodated with sufficient advance notice. Please notify me of your allergies in your booking message so we can discuss options to prepare the unit to accommodate your needs. • Basic Wifi supports standard browsing with light streaming capacity - Gigabit speed upgrade packages available by request to support heavy streaming and telecommuting/video conferencing needs. Minimum 24 hour notice recommended to accommodate these requests. • Early checking and luggage storage are not available. If the house is ready early on your checkin day, I will message you. NEIGHBORHOOD/GETTING AROUND Capitol View is a small neighborhood east of that Anacostia River that straddles East Capitol St border between DC's Northeast and Southeast quadrants from Benning Rd to the Maryland state border. Our little northeast niche is a thriving and diverse middle-class community of residents who have made it their home for generations and new transplants seeking suburban spaces while staying close to urban amenities. 10 minute walk to Benco Shopping Center: Subway, Asian restaurant, hair salon and several other shops -- <10 min walk to Benning Rd Metro Station -- (3 stops to Eastern Market) -- (7 stops to the Monuments and Smithsonians) -- 8 minute drive to RFK stadium (2.5 miles) -- 5 minute drive to Safeway, CVS Pharmacy, laundromat -- Metro Bus: 96 line takes you to RFK Stadium, Union Station, U Street, and Upper NW Metro Rail (~ 1/2 mile): Benning Rd blue/silver line direct to Eastern Market, downtown/Smithsonian Station, and both DCA/IAD airports or transfer lines for easy access to the entire city.
